Our objective is to positively impact pain medicine fellows' team attitudes by the end of the year-long fellowship (post-intervention assessment time point). We conceive attitudes as having a significant responsibility (i.e., mediator variable role) on some of the GME at MDACC outcome goals (viz., assessment of practice-based learning and improvement, interpersonal and communication skills, professionalism, and system-based practice.
Our long-term goals include continuing to train pain medicine fellows in teamwork in subsequent years. All data will be pooled and analyzed at the end of five years. Additionally, our long-term goal is to heighten awareness of process goals in other ambulatory and inpatient settings. In particular we would like the educational model and resources we develop for pain medicine to be exported to other training institutions. We also will consider seeking external funding to help us develop and refine resource materials for this educational model as it applies to fellowship training in pain medicine. |
