The goal of this behavioral research study is to learn the characteristics of
nurses that are considered to be "experts" in the oncology ambulatory setting.

Study Objectives / Outcomes
The purpose of this qualitative phenomenological study is to explore the characteristics of expert nursing practice in oncology ambulatory care.
Primary Objectives
1) To describe the characteristics of expert nursing practice in oncology ambulatory care
2) To determine how nurses described as 'experts' in their field view nursing expertise in ambulatory practice settings.

Inclusion Criteria:
1) Registered nurses working as full time or part-time outpatient clinical nurses at MD Anderson
2) Assigned to primary or ongoing treatment clinics
3) Have been employed at MD Anderson for a minimum of 5 years and a minimum of 5 years in the ambulatory setting
Exclusion Criteria:
1) Nurses working under outside agency contract
2) Nurses assigned to float pool staff
3) Nurses working at MD Anderson satellite facilities
4) Nurses working in single episode diagnostic clinics, such as diagnostic radiology and emergency center
