Description/
Intervention:
The goal of this research study is to learn about the quality-of-life and
nutritional health of patients with a mass in or near the pancreas. Researchers
also want to learn the effectiveness of current instruments that are used to
measure quality-of-life and nutritional health and if certain quality-of-life
issues can be used to predict a patient's stage of disease or their chances of
having surgery.
.
Study Objectives / Outcomes
1. Primary Objective- To correlate nutritional assessments (as measured by PG-SGA [Patient-Generated Subjective Global Assessment]) with quality of life measurements as quantified using FACT-Hep (Functional Assessment of Cancer Therapy-Hepatobiliary Questionnaire) in patients with pancreatic cancer.

2. Secondary Objectives - (a) To correlate scores on PG-SGA or FACT-Hep with cancer stage using the American Joint Commission on Cancer (AJCC) system. (b) Determine if individual patient PG-SGA or FACT-Hep scores correlate with completion of preoperative therapy and surgical resection.
