Epidemiology

Carol J. Etzel, PhD

Research Interests:
Statistical genetics, meta-analysis, genetic epidemiology, risk assessment models

The research in my laboratory is directed at understanding genetic risk of disease. A strong interest in our laboratory is in constructing risk models incorporating epidemiologic and genetic data to characterize risk of lung cancer and to identify subgroups of individuals at highest risk who can be targeted for intensive intervention programs. Another interest in our laboratory is developing meta-analytic methods to combine data across genetic linkage studies. Current studies in our laboratory focus on cancer risk model development, imputing missing genetic data to improve the risk models, as well as development and testing of meta-analytic methods.
