Sanjay S. Shete, MSc, PhD

Research Interests:
Statistics, epidemiology, genomic imprinting, gene-gene interactions


The determinants of many traits of humans include genetic components, although in most cases, their locations on the chromosomes are not known. My research focuses on the development and implementation of statistical methods for analyzing family and pedigree data to identify genes that cause disease. One of my current areas of research is to develop methods for gene-gene and gene-environmental interaction and apply them to cancer data. Statistical methods applied to genetic and molecular data play a key role in uncovering the often complex relationship between important traits of living organisms and their genetic bases.

I have developed methods for testing linkage and genomic imprinting in extended pedigrees. Currently, I am developing methods for testing gene-gene and gene-environment interactions in a case-only study design.
